School Avoidance
School avoidance can be quite distressing for all. Here are some possible causes :
Anxiety disorders such

Major depressive disorder
The period of time after a prolonged illness which has impacted on school attendance
Victim teasing or bullying
e.g. cyberbullying link
Conflicts at home link to managing family arguments
Learning Disabilities which may or may not have been diagnosed
Other Academic Difficulties
review past and recent report cards and teacher comments to look for possible ongoing issues more apparent in high school
Returning to school after the holidays or a long weekend particularly if youth are prone to anxiety. link to stress management
Re-evaluate the school environment, as it may be a good fit for some not others. (e.g. high school kids with ADHD symptoms may do better with semestered courses rather then full year courses. link to ADHD + parenting
